Form 1040
Form 1040, also known as the "U.S. Individual Income Tax Return Form," is the initial form for filing federal income tax returms to the IRS. Form 1040 has two pages; the first of which collects personal information about the taxpayer, dependents, etc. and second which calculates allowable deductions and credits and applies withheld funds from wages or estimates towards tax liability.

1. The form has 11 attachments, all of which may need to be filed depending on the specific situations of each taxpayer.
2. Any full-time resident individual U.S. income taxpayer can use Form 1040.
